The Digital Visual Interface is a low cost, high quality graphics interface between a host processor (PC) and a display panel. Monitor and PC can easily be separated over a long distance. Optical technology for this transmission stretches the performance beyond the limitations of copper.

The point-to-point fiber cable allows transmitting DVI signals up to 500 meters (1,560 feet).
